This Weekend in Los Angeles

Who decided that the work week should be five days and we only get two to pack in all this good stuff?  Here are a few things on my calendar for this weekend:

Take My Picture, a gallery in downtown LA, is having an opening reception from 5-9pm on Saturday for 'The Billboard Show' which highlights the 'bright, bold and sometimes bizarre billboards of the 50's and 60's that captured a city on the move'.

Also on Saturday, you can check out Los Angeles after dark on a Neon Cruise offered by The Museum of Neon Art, which highlights the city's vintage signage and movie marquees.

Saturday morning, there's a truly unique event, '150 Antique Aprons: A Personal Collection', sponsored by the Culinary Historians of Southern California.  Ruth Reeder will share her knowledge (who knew there were apron enthusiasts out there!) at the Los Angeles Public Library at 10:30am.  The event is free and open to the public.  (Hint, Hint: Also check out the Neutra exhibit while you're at the library - May 3rd through November 1st, 2009)

Last, but certainly not least, Turquoise sent this invite to me for a book signing on Saturday from 7-10pm.  Turquoise is featured in 'The Find', by Stan Williams, along with preservationist, Peter Moruzzi, (who just wrote a book himself!  Find it here.) Check out the Retropia website for more details.  Have a great weekend!
