Roxie Rancho: Finding the Right White

We almost have the kitchen remodel behind us and I can't wait to post photos!  In the mean time, the latest here at Roxie Rancho is that the painter is working his magic.  The ceiling just got a fresh coat of white paint!  After days of deliberation on the 'right white', we settled on Dunn-Edwards Cool December (DEW383).  I hesitated to deviate from my standby white from Benjamin Moore (Deco White), but I'm really happy with the results of my risk-taking.  Living on the edge can be exhilarating!

As the painter continues the job, it's time to say goodbye to the masterpiece that we created while sampling all our color choices. We knew this day would come. Before it's gone forever, I thought I'd share our work of art.  Be sure to check back later this week for the lowdown on the rest of the paint job and our kitchen reveal!

The Roxie Rancho Project: Kitchen Preview

We've experienced major victories and minor defeats over the last month as we've begun our Cliff May renovation. Well, this week we are closing in on a major accomplishment: Our new kitchen! It's been crazy busy this week with electricians, plumbers, cabinet makers, delivery people and appliance installers buzzing in and out.  So, the big question is, how is it coming along?  Well, here is a preview:

We've still got a way to go, but as you can see John McDonald from Handmade is installing some beautiful birch cabinetry and I'm listening to our appliances being put in place as I write this.  My dream of not having to go out to the refrigerator in the garage for my breakfast will soon be a reality!  Stay tuned for more photos and a wrap up of our kitchen project.  It will be finished by December 24th and we're excited to whip up a celebratory breakfast on Christmas morning!

Renovation Sneak Peek

Day three of homeownership and my husband and I (with some major help from my father-in-law) have almost completely gutted our Cliff May rancho. Take one look at these photos and you'll see why I've only had a couple of posts this week. Yes, that IS the bathroom sink in the (now non-existent) kitchen!

Top to Bottom: The first two photos are the kitchen (or what's left of it!), [#3] shows one of the bedrooms with the original black VCT tile, [#4] the soon-to-be repainted purple master bath no longer has a sink, toilet, or floor, and the last photo shows our big discovery of day two!  The original Myselite glass divider between the bedrooms was still in tact had been dry-walled over.  Thank goodness there's at least one thing we won't need to replace.  I'll be back next week to regular blog posts and more photos of the renovations.  See you then!
